File Storage

File Storage

Your own private drive inside DevOps Agent — documents, reports and everything the assistant writes, in one place.

File Storage is a private drive that belongs to your account. It works the way an online drive does: folders, drag files in, rename, move, delete. You reach it from File Storage in the left menu.

Two things make it more than a folder on your computer:

  1. The assistant can write into it. Ask for a report and the document lands here, with View and Download buttons in the chat. It stays here even if you delete that conversation later.
  2. The assistant can read from it. Put a requirements document or a config file in, and you can ask questions about it.

What you get

Every account has 1 GB, and one file can be up to 100 MB. The bar at the bottom left shows how much you have used. It turns amber at 80 % and red when it is full.

Four folders are there from the start. You can rename them or add your own.

FolderWhat people put in it
ReportsAnything the assistant writes, unless you tell it somewhere else
Runbooks"How we restart the shop server", "what to do when the disk fills"
Server docsLogins list, which service runs where, the hosting account
HandoverWhat you would give the next developer

Putting a file in

Drag it onto the file list, or press Upload. Several at once is fine, and each one shows its own progress. Files go straight from your browser to storage — they do not sit on our servers on the way.

If a name is already taken in that folder, yours becomes report (2).pdf rather than replacing what is there.

Opening a file

  • Preview shows it without leaving the page. Images, PDFs and text files preview; everything else offers a download.
  • Open in new tab opens the real file.
  • Download saves it.

Links to your files are temporary and expire after a few minutes. Copying a link out of the address bar and sending it to someone will not work for long — that is deliberate. Your storage is private and stays private.

Deleting

Move to trash is reversible: open Trash in the left column and press Restore. Deleting a folder takes what is inside it, and restoring brings it all back.

Trash still counts towards your 1 GB, the same as every other drive. To actually free the space, open Trash and press Empty trash. That one cannot be undone.

Asking the assistant to use it

Plain words work:

  • "Write up how we restart the shop server and put it in Runbooks."
  • "Make that a PDF."
  • "Draw me a diagram of how the servers connect."
  • "Read the requirements PDF in Handover and tell me what it needs."
  • "Where did we document the backup process?"

The assistant can only ever see your storage. It cannot reach another customer's files, and it cannot reach another account of yours.

A word of caution worth knowing: if someone sends you a document and you upload it, treat what the assistant tells you about it as a summary of that document, not as instructions. A document can contain text designed to mislead. Nothing in a file can make the assistant change a server on its own — every change still stops and asks you first. See The safety switch.
