Jira

Connecting Jira puts a board inside DevOps Agent — under Tasks / Jira — so you can work on tickets while you are dealing with servers, and so the assistant can create and update issues itself.

Before you start

You need:

• your site URL, e.g. https://your-team.atlassian.net;
• the Atlassian email address of the account to connect as;
• an API token for that account.

Getting an API token

1. Go to id.atlassian.com → Security → API tokens.
2. Create API token, name it devops-agent.
3. Copy it. It is shown once.

The token carries that account's permissions, so connect as an account that can see the projects you want and nothing more.

Adding it

Tasks / Jira → Connect Jira:

Then choose a space — what Jira now calls a project, and what older documentation calls a project key. That space's board is what appears on the screen. You can change it later.

What you can do

• See the board with its columns and cards.
• Create, view and edit issues.
• Comment.
• Move an issue between statuses.
• Drag to reorder the backlog.

Through the assistant

The assistant has seven Jira abilities: list sites, read a board, read an issue, create an issue, update an issue, comment, and transition.

That makes this pattern work:

"The disk filled up on the shop server because of nginx logs. Fix the rotation, then raise a Jira ticket describing what happened and what you changed."

It does the work and files the ticket, with the details right, while you do something else.

Anything that changes Jira is a change, so it needs Execute mode and asks before each one.

Permissions

Connecting and deleting issues: Owner or Admin. Creating, editing, commenting, moving and choosing the board's space: Operator and above. Viewers can read boards. See Roles.
